Published and released on Hogan's own label, Vortex Records Inc., this long-awaited CD features ten explosive Mike Hogan (BMI) originals, including the title tune "You brighten up my life", "Rain Keeps Falling" and "Texas Rose". And, even though some distant similarities to Neil Diamond, Carlos Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Brian Adams have been noted, the critics agree that this music is in a category all its own.

Even while serving as a Cpt. in the US Army Nurse Corps (101st Airborne) in Nashville during the 70s, Hogan (who holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Texas Christian University) expanded and perfected his music while performing with members of the Royal Guardsmen, creators of the national pop fad epic "Snoopy and the Red Baron".
Hogan has appeared at the Grand opening of Paramount release Urban Cowboy, starring John Travolta. He has also appeared with the Sammy Smith Band.
After the Army, Hogan was signed on the LeCam label. A label that has had 60 s hit makers such as Bruce Channel (Hey Baby), Jay Frank Wilson (Last Kiss), Paul and Paula (Hey Paul). In the studio Hogan has collaborated with such hitmakers as Waylon Patton (Ricky Scaggs) songwriter and hitmaker Ronny Mac (Mel Tilis) songwriter. Hogan has had song releases of his own on the England s Pennicle records and Marquee Label.
